This guide explains how to connect an EFIX F6 GNSS receiver to RTK FIX corrections using the manufacturer-recommended EFIX eField Android application.

The EFIX F6 connects to eField by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The NTRIP connection is then configured as a rover work mode in eField. The controller or receiver must have working internet access.

Menu names in this guide follow the EFIX F6 user guide and eField User Guide V7.5.0. Labels can differ slightly in newer eField releases.

View the EFIX F6 product page →

What you need #

  • An EFIX F6 GNSS receiver with sufficient battery charge.
  • An Android controller or Android device running EFIX eField.
  • An active RTK correction subscription purchased through RTK FIX.
  • Your RTK FIX NTRIP server address, port, username, password and mountpoint.
  • A working mobile internet connection on the controller or receiver.
  • A clear view of the sky during setup and measurement.
  • The correct coordinate system, datum and geoid information for your project.

When using the controller’s mobile connection, select PDA network in eField. Select Receiver network only when the receiver itself has a working internet connection.

Find your RTK FIX NTRIP credentials #

  1. Open Open the RTK FIX dashboard →.
  2. Sign in and open the correction service assigned to your subscription.
  3. Locate the NTRIP connection details for that service.
  4. Keep the dashboard open while configuring eField, or copy the details to a secure location.

Your NTRIP username and password are not necessarily the same as the email address and password used to sign in to the RTK FIX website.

NTRIP credentials may be case-sensitive. Copy the server address, port, username, password and mountpoint exactly as displayed. Do not add spaces before or after a value.

RTK FIX gives you access to correction services from multiple providers through one platform. You can view your available services and connection credentials in the Open the RTK FIX dashboard →.

Connect the receiver #

Connect by Bluetooth #

  1. Attach the EFIX F6 securely to the survey pole.
  2. Switch on the receiver by pressing and holding its power button for approximately three seconds.
  3. Switch on the Android controller and open eField.
  4. Open the Config main menu and select Connect.
  5. In the Connect screen, set Brand to EFIX.
  6. Set Device Type to F6.
  7. Set Connection Type to Bluetooth.
  8. Select Search and enable Bluetooth when requested.
  9. Select Pair new device, then choose the EFIX F6 from the detected devices.
  10. Return to eField, select the receiver in the Bluetooth device list and tap Connect.

Connect by Wi-Fi #

  1. Open eField and select Connect.
  2. Set Brand to EFIX.
  3. Set Device Type to F6.
  4. Set Connection Type to WIFI.
  5. Select Click to select WI-FI.
  6. Enable Wi-Fi and select the EFIX F6 hotspot from the available networks.
  7. Return to eField and tap Connect.

Bluetooth is normally the more convenient connection when the controller’s Wi-Fi or mobile connection is required for internet access.

Open the NTRIP settings #

  1. Confirm that eField shows the EFIX F6 as connected.
  2. Open the Instrument section.
  3. Select GNSS rover.
  4. Select New to create a new rover work mode.
  5. Choose the NTRIP tab.

The exact route to Instrument can differ between eField versions. In some releases, the receiver work mode can also be opened from the connected receiver’s information screen by selecting Modify data link.

Enter the RTK FIX connection details #

Complete the NTRIP work mode using the values shown in your RTK FIX dashboard.

Device or app field What to enter
Name A descriptive profile name, such as RTK FIX Rover.
Network PDA network when the controller provides internet, or Receiver network when the receiver provides internet.
Domain/IP The NTRIP server address displayed in the RTK FIX dashboard.
Port The NTRIP port displayed in the RTK FIX dashboard.
Username Your RTK FIX NTRIP username, not your website login unless explicitly shown as the same.
Password Your RTK FIX NTRIP password.
Mount point The mountpoint assigned to or recommended for your correction service and location.

Do not enter example values from another guide. Server addresses, ports, credentials and mountpoints differ between correction providers and subscriptions.

Select the mountpoint #

  1. Enter the correct Domain/IP and Port.
  2. Enter your Username and Password.
  3. Select Get Mountpoint.
  4. Wait for eField to retrieve the available source table.
  5. Open Mount point and select the mountpoint provided or recommended for your RTK FIX service.

Do not choose a mountpoint only because it appears first in the list. The mountpoint must be compatible with your subscription, working area and receiver.

A VRS mountpoint commonly requires the rover to send NMEA GGA position messages to the correction service. eField and the EFIX F6 normally manage this as part of the NTRIP rover workflow. This guide does not specify a manual GGA interval because an exact interval has not been verified for this configuration.

Start the NTRIP connection #

  1. Check all entered values for spelling, capitalization and accidental spaces.
  2. Select Save&Accept to save and apply the NTRIP work mode.
  3. When eField displays the confirmation message, select OK to open the receiver information screen.
  4. Wait while eField connects to the NTRIP caster and begins receiving correction data.
  5. Keep the controller’s mobile data connection active when using PDA network.

Selecting Save stores the work mode without necessarily applying it. Use Save&Accept when you are ready to start the connection.

Verify the RTK solution #

Watch the position status in eField after the NTRIP connection starts.

Status Meaning
Single or Autonomous The receiver is calculating a standalone GNSS position without an RTK solution. Do not use this status for an RTK survey measurement.
DGPS or DGNSS The receiver is using differential corrections, but the solution is not an RTK Float or RTK Fixed solution.
Float The receiver is processing carrier-phase corrections, but the integer ambiguities have not been resolved. Float must not be treated as centimetre-accurate.
Fixed The receiver has resolved the RTK ambiguities. Measure only when Fixed is stable and the reported accuracy is acceptable for the work.

Receiving corrections does not prove that the project coordinate system, datum, geoid model or localization is correct. These settings must be checked separately.

The EFIX F6 indicator can also help confirm its operating state. The manufacturer’s guide states that the receiver flashes green when operating with a fixed rover solution.

Checks before measuring #

  • Confirm that eField displays a stable Fixed solution.
  • Check that the reported horizontal and vertical accuracy meet the requirements of the project.
  • Check the correction age and confirm that corrections are current and updating.
  • Confirm that the selected project coordinate system is correct.
  • Confirm the correct datum and geoid model where orthometric heights are required.
  • Check whether a site calibration or localization is required for the project.
  • Enter the correct antenna or pole height and confirm how that height was measured.
  • Keep the receiver upright unless the IMU tilt function is active and correctly initialized.
  • Maintain a clear view of the sky and move away from buildings, vehicles, trees and reflective surfaces where possible.
  • Check a known control point before collecting production measurements.

Measure only after Fixed is shown and the estimated accuracy is acceptable. Recheck the solution whenever the receiver is moved into a more obstructed environment.

Troubleshooting #

Problem Possible cause Solution
The EFIX F6 does not appear in eField. The receiver is off, Bluetooth is disabled or the wrong device type is selected. Switch on the receiver, enable Bluetooth and confirm that Brand is EFIX and Device Type is F6.
eField connects to the receiver but NTRIP does not start. The selected Network option has no internet access. Use PDA network when the controller supplies internet. Confirm that mobile data works before reconnecting.
The mountpoint list does not load. The server address, port or internet connection is incorrect. Compare Domain/IP and Port with the RTK FIX dashboard, then test the controller’s internet connection.
eField reports a username or password error. The NTRIP credentials are incorrect or contain a capitalization or spacing error. Copy the NTRIP username and password again. Do not substitute the RTK FIX website password unless the dashboard explicitly gives the same value.
The connection works with one mountpoint but not another. The second mountpoint may not be included in the subscription or may not be suitable for the area. Select the mountpoint assigned to or recommended for the correction service in the RTK FIX dashboard.
The receiver remains on Single. No usable corrections are reaching the receiver. Check the NTRIP login status, internet connection, mountpoint and correction age.
The receiver remains on Float. Satellite visibility, multipath, correction quality or the distance to the correction source may be unsuitable. Move to an open area, keep the receiver above nearby obstructions and allow the solution to resolve. Do not measure until an acceptable Fixed solution is obtained.
The solution changes repeatedly between Float and Fixed. The receiver has an obstructed sky view or an unstable internet connection. Move away from trees, buildings, vehicles and reflective surfaces. Check mobile signal strength and correction age.
The position is fixed but does not match known control. The coordinate system, datum, geoid, localization or antenna height may be incorrect. Stop measuring and verify all project coordinate settings and the entered antenna height. Receiving corrections does not validate these settings.
Heights are consistently incorrect. The wrong geoid model, vertical datum or pole height is being used. Confirm the project’s required vertical reference, geoid model and antenna-height measurement method.
The NTRIP connection stops when the controller screen is locked. Android power or background-data restrictions may be suspending eField. Allow eField to use background data and exclude it from battery optimization where permitted by the controller.

Correction coverage and available providers vary by location. RTK FIX lets you manage correction services from multiple providers through one platform. Check your current subscriptions in the Open the RTK FIX dashboard →.
